The fourth consortium meeting in January 2025 at Valeo Schalter und Sensoren GmbH in Kronach focused on sharing experiences and results from the project work to date.
The meeting provided the project partners with an ideal platform for intensive dialogue within and between the subprojects and for further coordination of the collaboration. Key project topics were discussed in various workshops in order to optimally coordinate the next steps. A particular highlight was the tour of the Valeo research laboratory, where participants gained exciting insights into current developments and various vehicle models in the field of automated driving.
The presentations and workshops focused on exciting topics: from the optimization and planning of sensor setup to new approaches for increasing range to insights into the blind spot issue and sensor coverage in the project vehicle. Current developments relating to edge systems were also presented.
The Smart Data Loop workshop discussed specific use cases and ideas for further developing the project and preparing for data collection – such as improving pedestrian detection in difficult weather conditions or detecting small objects directly on the vehicle. The handling of AI-generated images and the protection of privacy were also discussed.
A particular highlight was the exchange with project colleagues from Dekor-X, who organized a short project presentation and a demonstration of their research vehicle. Continuous transfer between projects is a central goal of the projects developed by VDA LI and creates synergies between the different research topics.
At the end of the meeting, the agenda focused on the further development of simulation models and scenarios. The meeting was rounded off by a lively exchange on current research and development topics in the field of automated driving.
